Today starts our 14 days of crafts here at Papersmith Handmade. We are really excited to share all of the fun and creative crafts we put together for you and your families. Make sure you check the blog each day for a new activity or idea you can do at home!
Our first one to share is something I started doing with my kids when they were younger. I changed it up a bit this year to make it a little more exciting for the kids since they are older now. In the past, I would cut out hearts and write something I loved about each of my children and tape it to their bedroom doors; one heart for each day of February leading up to Valentine's Day. I found though, that I would forget some mornings or fall behind so I came up with a new plan this year.
I used my Cricut machine to design and cut out these hearts. I did different styles of hearts and then added a small circle under the words " I love you because...". I purchased some scratch off stickers on Amazon, wrote all of my reasons I love my children within the printed circles and then placed the scratch off stickers over them. Easy, right? Each day, starting

today, the kids will take one heart down and scratch off the circle to see what it says!
There are many ways to create this at home, even if you don't have a Cricut. Hearts are a simple shape to cut out of any kind of paper! You can simply write your reasons on the heart and place the stickers over them OR don't use the stickers at all! This is not only a great way to tell your kids you love them, but also works as a countdown to Valentine's Day. I think it gives them something to look forward to each morning as well!
I hope you are able to recreate this simple activity for your family. If you do, please share with us on our Facebook page! We would love to see your creations as well. Check back tomorrow for some more fun. We will be making Punxsutawney Phil out of paper! See you tomorrow!
